On the Guadalupe, Among the Cedar Hills
Kerrville, the Kerr County seat, sits along the Guadalupe River in the middle of the Hill Country. It's known for its summer camps, the Kerrville Folk Festival and its quiet neighborhoods, and it draws a lot of retirees and families with second homes. Houses run from older places near downtown to newer homes up in the hills with long views.
Each of them builds up a bio-load over time: the tiny particles that collect in the air, on surfaces and inside the HVAC system. What Is Your Home's Bio-Load? explains how it builds.
Which Kerrville Homes Tend to Smell Stale?
Second homes. A house closed for weeks or months while its owners are elsewhere can greet them with a stale smell. Our closed-up homes guide explains why the smell builds.
Cedar season. The hills around town are thick with Ashe juniper, and its winter pollen finds its way indoors. See our cedar season guide.
Homes near the river. River-area houses can feel more humid, and closets and bathrooms hold on to damp air.
Guest suites. Rooms kept ready for visiting family can sit unused for long stretches between holidays.
What Does the Dry Fog Treatment Do?
It sends a fog fine enough to float through the whole house and its ducts. The patented VaPURE system makes droplets about 7 microns across, and positive pressure carries them into every room, closet, crack and crevice and through the HVAC ductwork. On hard, non-porous surfaces the fog helps reduce the bio-load and neutralize odors, and as it settles it temporarily reduces airborne particulates. A surface protectant follows.
The whole job takes one day. After a 2 to 4 hour air-out, you're back inside the same day.
One note for a river town: if a home has had water come inside, get that looked at and fixed first by an independent state-licensed professional. The dry fog is a fresh start for a dry, repaired home, not a repair.
Planning a Treatment on the Western Edge
Kerrville sits on the western edge of our service area, so we plan treatment days ahead. It all starts with a free phone consultation: a team member learns what's going on in your home, answers your questions and sends a written quote based on square footage before anything is scheduled.
Kerrville Questions
We live out of town part of the year. Can you work around that?
Yes. Tell us when you'll be here, or who can let us in. The AC needs to be set to 68 degrees before we arrive.
Can you treat a guest house too?
Yes. Mention any guest house or casita when you call, and we'll include it in the quote.
